E for enthusiasm for the world of fragrances - that's what we at BIRKHOLZ Perfume Manufacture stand for. Under this letter, however, essential fragrance terms such as floral or base note must not be missing. The base note of a perfume forms the basis for every fragrance composition and is often composed of wood and musk aromas. In addition, the base note has the unique property of forming a special connection with the scent properties of the skin. Thus, a very individual note develops for each person.

H for heart note. After the top notes of the perfume have faded away in the first few minutes and have tuned in to the character of the fragrance, the body of any fragrance arrangement opens up - the heart note. Fine-harmonious, it forms the gradations between the base and top notes and is the longest perceptible. It often consists of floral accords of roses, freesia or jasmine.

Hazelnut, Heart note; Heliotrope

I like individualization. We as BIRKHOLZ Perfume Manufacture have made it our business to create your own personal fragrance. Away from the mass-produced goods from shelves, the perfume as a whole should be individually tailored to you, envelop you and become your second skin. We advise you as perfume sommeliers to your own tailor-made perfume - completely individual.

J for jasmine. It is also called the royal flower. Especially in the heart note, jasmine is the most popular floral fragrance next to rose. The exclusive flower oil is obtained by the fine white flowers and is one of the highest quality oils in the world. Jasmine smells honey-like, sweet-intense with floral aroma and fruity, herbaceous undertones.

K for Knowledge. As perfume experts and with the help of our perfume sommelier Philip Birkholz, we can provide you with all the fragrance knowledge you need to find the right fragrance for yourself as well as to give you tips on how to make your fragrance last longer.

L for lavender. The plant is also called the soul of Provence. The many small blue-violet flowers exude a tart-sweet scent - fresh and spicy at the same time. The plant with an aroma between flower and herbs was already used by the ancient Romans and Greeks as a perfuming care additive. The scent of lavender has a calming effect on the nerves, balancing and promotes relaxation.

M for Manufacture. With utmost detail and time, we have developed over 30 hand-picked perfumes. Since we would like to share our passion for fragrances, it was important to us to make the development of the individual perfume tangible for you as a customer. That is why we offer the possibility to be present at every step, when the selected glass bottle is filled at our heart, the Perfumebar. Our customer can be there very closely when the pump is inserted and the bottle plate is engraved and applied.

N for (fine) nose. Every perfume should be as individual as its wearer. To achieve this, we not only need a fine nose for fragrances, but also for you as a customer - a sense of which fragrance suits which character.

nose, Natural Savage, niche, niche perfume

O for oriental. Scents like from 1001 Nights bring the Orient to life. Notes of oud, leather, sandalwood, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vetiver or amber exude a touch of sweet sensuality, passion and warmth. Oriental perfumes usually have animalic, woody and leathery scents and are thus classified as "heavier". Sweet balsams, subtle vanilla or spicy aromas enhance and round out the fragrance.

Orange Blossom; Orchid; Orange; Oriental, Openness, Ocean Hills, Online Perfume Sommelier.

P for Perfume. More precisely, Extrait Parfum is the perfume with the highest concentration of fragrances. As a rule, perfumes have 15 to 30 percent fragrance oil content - as "Intense" even up to 40 percent. In the case of Eau de Parfum (EdP), the proportion of fragrance concentrates is also already very high at 10 to 15 percent. It is very intense and is used very sparingly. The volatility of Eau de Parfum is much lower than that of variants such as Eau de Toilette (EdT) with a concentration of six to nine percent or Eau de Cologne (EdC) with a fragrance content of three to five percent. Thus, it is possible that Eau de Parfum, once applied, can still be smelled days later. We as BIRKHOLZ Perfume Manufacture have a fragrance oil content of up to 25 per cent and are thus already in the range of Extrait Parfum, but still declare our fragrances as Eau de Parfum.

Q for Quality. As a manufacture offering a niche perfume, quality is one of our corporate values. For us, quality is not just a catchphrase, but the standard we set for our products. We source our hand-picked perfume oils from the five most renowned perfume oil manufacturers in the world - from Switzerland, France and Germany. But not only the quality of our perfumes is important to us. We were also very careful in the selection of our flacons and the hand-sewn leather caps from Italy,  and searched and fiddled for a long time until we had developed our current manufactory perfume with the BIRKHOLZ concept. The specially developed filling line is the heart of our perfume bar - based on our own ideas and drawings, it was manufactured in Italy according to our quality standards.

R for Rose. The queen of flowers is not only the symbol of love and adoration, but also the bearer of a precious fragrance that is considered the epitome of femininity. In Persia, the scent of the rose was appreciated early on - rose oil was originally produced there. As one of the most expensive fragrance oils ever, it is obtained by steam distillation of the flowers. The warm and soft scent of the rose stands for sensuality and seduction.

Rose(s); Rosewood; Risk

S for spring ... summer, fall and winter. Every year we feel and smell spring anew, based on scents like fresh grass, lily of the valley or budding flowers. Dewy grass, first rays of sunshine - as vitalizing as the first walk in spring - First Spring: In the top note, the scent of apple blossom mixes with peach and lemon. Spring smells light, fresh and floral.

T for top note. The dramaturgy of any perfume begins with the top note. It is the first thing that you perceive from the fragrance. The prelude of the perfume usually opens with fresh and soft floral notes. The top note fades the fastest and releases the heart note of the perfume after about ten to fifteen minutes. The duration of the transitional moment is quite individual from perfume to perfume.

top note, tobacco, tonka bean

U for unique. A perfume should be just as unique as the person who wears it. This is why, we have created a wide range of fragrances that each tells its own unique story. On top of that, at our Perfumebar in Berlin, you can even mix your own individual fragrance in an individual workshop called a fragrance journey.

V for vanilla. The queen of spices grows as an orchid as a climbing plant around trees. Its fruit is the aroma-giving vanilla bean. There are over 110 different varieties, but the bourbon vanilla from Madagascar spreads its aroma particularly well. The scent of vanilla is intense, sweet, warm and slightly woody with balsamic and tobacco notes. Vanilla adds depth to any perfume in its fragrance composition.

W for workshop. Whether in our Perfumebar in Knesebeckstrasse or in our showroom in Dreilinden near Kleinmachnow - the fragrance journey can also be booked as an event or workshop for groups.
